Message from the Co-Chairs: February 2021
Support for community practice and social action is strong and growing as we enter this long-awaited New Year. One way we see this strength is the willingness of macro social work educators and practitioners to serve in ACOSA leadership positions.
We owe Jan Ivery a big debt of gratitude for serving as ACOSA co-chair with Rachel West in 2020. Our thanks also to Terry Cluse-Tolar for her service as ACOSA treasurer. Both Jan and Terry have expressed their continued support of ACOSA even as they step away from their recent roles in the organization. Jan and Terry, we will count on you to share your passions for macro social work and macro social work education with us as we move through 2021 and beyond.
Tracy Soska has stepped up to be our interim treasurer, a role that he has taken on for ACOSA in the past. Deb Adams has volunteered to serve as co-chair with Rachel.
The ACOSA governance committee, under the leadership of member Michelle Livermore, is preparing a proposal for updating our Board and committee structure to serve us better in the future. We look forward to sharing their proposal with ACOSA members next month.
In the meantime, watch for upcoming notices in our weekly e-blast every Wednesday of our work through the Macro Social Work Student Network (MSWSN), regional member gatherings, our new Community Practice Certificate partnership program, our March happy hour, and three Macro Chats via Twitter later this spring.
Be safe out there!
