About this event
Everyone deserves protection from health hazards caused by poor environmental policies. How can social workers support Green efforts in our communities? Among the cacophony of food insecurity, international conflict, child poverty, and the housing crisis, how do we build capacity and create safe spaces to engage communities in environmental justice?
On May 2nd, we invited environmental activists to discuss the intersection of mental health, local action, and environmental justice.
Participants were very interested in talking about how social workers can get involved in environmental justice efforts, as well as ways to engage our already taxed clients, their families and other members of our communities.
In this session we will share how people are doing this work and discuss ideas that we all have about how to push back and how to make change. This is meant to be a conversation, not a presentation; we hope you will attend and share your experiences, thoughts and questions.
