Panel and book discussion with Steve Burghardt & Guests. The following issues will be explored (1) Why are social workers so poorly paid compared to nurses or teachers? (2) Why are social workers so often blamed for what are actually welfare state problems? (3) Why is self-care the answer to exhausting work hours in social work while nurses are not afraid to organize and strike? (4) How could a field that trumpets its commitments to ‘social justice’ have its own problems of systemic racism?

Attendees are invited to ask questions.
